My pan came off a 1972 or 73 400 engine. I checked it when off the car, and it held 6 QUARTS to the bottom of the windage tray. So I run 5 quarts in the pan, 1 in the filter, for a total of 6 on an oil and filter change. And when I check it after changing oil, it comes right to the FULL mark on the dipstick.
