There is a maze the oil must travel through and a metal filter that can pass oil into or out of the chamber on the path to reach the breather port leading to the carburetor. It seems that with the return port higher than the breather port, the oil finds it’s way out of the breather exit hole into the carburetor.

I went out and re-checked some things just to make sure after your comment: There is no gas in the oil, no gas smell at all. It is not overfilled with oil. I have not tipped the unit up, back or side to side since the oil/gas change.

Is the breather tube from the top of the motor?
My question is the small breather tube from the top of the motor to the air cleaner box exit it’s close to the carb. and puddles some oil in the air cleaner box. Is the carb supposed to suck oil up through the tube or is there some type of defect in the breather system The motor runs strong, Good compression, No exhaust smoke.
