Recharge the A/C. There may be air trapped in the system. Hot coolant is responsible for passing through the heater core, creating hot air which can than pass through the vents and into the cabin. On some occasions air can become trapped in the system, stopping the coolant from doing its job.

Turn the heater on the highest setting and set the fan speed to the highest setting. Open the hood and place your hand over the upper radiator hose. Check to see if it is warm. If it is, then the coolant is flowing through the cooling system as it should. Check the radiator to heater core hose.

Cold is cold, hot is hot on both sides. Just something to try, your results may vary. It is a 2000 and has a manual heater with only one zone. I suppose it is the actuator on the top of the heater box isn’t it??

Why is the heater on my GMC Sierra not working?

Have a 2000 gmc sierra. Heater not blowing out hot air. Both input and output hoses hot. Can air . On hot it is just blowing lukewarm air . Putting hotter. Temp gauge is registering just below 210 Could be 2 things, one would be a bad temperature valve, a plugged heater core, or a blend door actuator.

Another reason I am starting to lean that direction is if I select “outside” air and set the temp control to cold the vents still blow hot/warm air – much warmer than the outside air. What can I check and does anybody have any suggestions??

Before you replace it try this: 1.Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position. 3.Remove the RADIO fuse for 10 seconds and then reinstall the fuse. 4.Place the ignition switch in the RUN position and wait 40 seconds for the ECC module to initialize.
