Have found that if tractor has never had duals on it and been taken care of pretty good but if it has duals and been pulled ring and pinion alaways out just my 2 cents good luck. neighbors have a 20 or 2290 and it has set more than it has been used. mostly transmission and pto issues i think.
Is the IH general 2290 case a good car?
They have a tilt up hood and that is nice for working on the engine, not a bad cab for the times,single door, you can see the drawbar,controls are in a good area, vision is ok, the seat is the same as a 86 series. Depending on how much money you would like to spend , I would save your money and buy a 7110 or a 5240, just my 2 cents !!!!

Harvey i drove a 1984 case 2094 at work on construction and it had 12000hrs on it all original drivetrain They are a decent tractor when they are working, but you are looking at big$$$ if something goes wrong, especially with the transmission. The motors are good, powershift is very jerky and rough, cab is good, prone to PTO issues.

Are there hydraulic problems on a smokstak Case tractor?
Well a 2390 case doesn’t seem like an antique tractor but it is almost 30 years old! My brother is having trouble with the Hydraulics and steering on his 2390 Case tractor. It started with no main hydraulic. Tried the compensator and seemed to work again. Then it quit again and the Compensator wasn’t stuck.
