What’s the best way to install a fuel filter?
Once the filter is fitting well in the line, put a clamp or clip around the hose on each end of the filter and tighten them down to secure the filter. This isn’t the time to turn into the Incredible Hulk though. These filters are plastic and too much tension will damage the filter’s casing.
When do you need to replace a fuel hose?

Since diesel fuel is thicker and less refined than gasoline, a more frequent replacement schedule may be listed by the manufacturer – some even specify every 15,000 to 20,000 miles. Because diesel fuel naturally contains more impurities, we recommend strict adherence to any vehicle maintenance schedule.

Raise up the fuel tank and, if you have a fuel filter, snap the fuel line to the filter and ensure that the connections are tight. Step 5: Install the mounting bolts to the fuel filler neck. Open the fuel neck door and be sure to tighten the bolts finger tight and then 1/8 turn. Step 6: Hook up the fuel tank straps.
Where is the fuel filter in the tank?
Many vehicles are equipped with two filters – one inside the tank, and one outside the tank along the fuel line somewhere. Many in-tank fuel filters are part of an integrated fuel pump sending unit like the one shown here, and may or may not be designed for replacement.
