You can make these complaints verbally or in writing. Sometimes we may get things wrong or may not be able to help you in a way you would like. So we’ve created a customer complaints process that covers feedback about: a procedure or policy.

How does the GMC deal with complaints?

They’ll work with the relevant department, do another investigation and give you a final response. If our Corporate Review team decides no further action is necessary, unless you raise any new information, we will consider your complaint closed.

How do I report a doctor to the GMC?

If you do have a concern about a doctor who works independently , then the GMC will look at your complaint. If you have any queries, talk to someone from our contact centre (0161 923 6602) who will be able to advise you.

We receive complaints or concerns about many doctors throughout their careers. But we only investigate when these raise issues about a doctor’s ability to practise safely or threaten public confidence in the profession.
