When you hit the switch for that tank, is there a diverter valve with a mechanical fuel pump at the engine, or is there an electric fuel pump in each of the tanks that switches electrically with that flip of the switch? I have a 1992 F150 4×4, dual tank, 5.0L, with fuel injection. There are two high pressure pumps, one in each tank. There is no third pump on the frame rail. There is no distribution valve on the frame rail.

What’s the problem with a dual fuel tank?
The Return Line can only deliver fuel to the tanks and not to the rail…therefore the pressure would be diverted from the front tank to the nearest relief (rear tank)……Anybody agree with that? Why does my fuel tank not come down?
The fuel gage needle does not come down off of full. However, when I switch to the rear tank, I notice that the fuel gage is down quite a bit. It seems the truck is drawing fuel from the rear tank, even though the selector switch is set for the front tank.
