Hi guys just thought id run something by you guys to see if anyone has encountered this problem before ( did a search couldn’t find much).
Why does my 1999 Ford Falcon wagon not start?
Hi, I have a 1999 Ford Falcon Wagon – 4.0l 6 cyl. The guy at the spares shop told me when looking for parts for this car – search under AU, as it is the same engine. It has an intermittent starting problem. When the ambient weather is low (below 15 deg C or so – having been parked overnight) it does not start. The engine cranks – but doesn’t start.
What kind of car is the AU Falcon?
The car is a AU falcon, for awhile when it was started and Drive selected it would drive off and when it was time to switch to 2nd gear it would free rev for a second or two then get into gear and be fine for the rest of the day.

Much higher than car should use. The car actually behaves ok – not much in the way of missing at all, occasionally bogs down on acceleration, but overall there’s no seriously major impact on driveablility or whatever – it just chews the petrol like there’s no tomorrow.

Edit: If you borrow one it’ll need to be from another large car, ideally a falcon. Firstly it sound like your battery is too small for the car, or on the way out …. have it checked for size and condition, and replace if needed. My AU falcon will crank continuously at any temperature no worries.
