What’s the problem with my Chevy Silverado 1500?
I have put a new alternator, ignition solenoid, ignition switch, and also switched the instrument cluster out to see if that was the problem (local gm service said that was the issue…didn’t work). Also, from time to time, my transmission wont shift correctly.

What happens if the thermostat is stuck on a Chevy Silverado?
A stuck thermostat that remains closed will prevent coolant from reaching the radiator, causing the engine to overheat rapidly. Read on if your Silverado’s thermostat is no longer functioning. Twist the coolant reservoir cap counterclockwise, and then remove it. Located on the bottom, driver’s side corner of the radiator is the drain thumb screw.

In researching this I’ve found many, many, people with similar and even more bizarre electrical problems on GM vehicles. Of course, all brands of vehicles have problems, but there is definitely a pattern indicating some very poor quality control, if not design, at GM and especially AC Delco.
