I have a 2005 explorer XLT. I have had the same problems. Driving slow push on brakes and they seize up and loud noise sounds like coming from ABS. Dealer to me the same thing, can’t find anything wrong.

It is unsafe to drive though because the brake pedal could fail and you would have no brakes all if you still have the problem. The complete job cost me 1400 dollars and I am very unhappy about that.

The brakes are doing fine now, although they make a breathing sound upon depressing the pedal till I push it all the way down (not down to the floor, but till the pedal’s as fr down as it goes). That is caused by a dry rubber boot around the brake shaft. It is located in the firewall and under the steering wheel. An occasional spray of silicone or w40 will cure it. When I press the brake pedal, it often has a popping sound or kind of like a rubber gasket somewhere that needs some type of spray applied to make it stop making a noise but I don’t know how to get to where the noise is coming from. Has anyone else noticed this problem on a 2001 Sport Trac? 07 Explorer (lease). 20k on it. Frt. brakes pulse.
