How to stop a Duramax truck from losing Prime?
Tried running fuel line from injection pump to tank of diesel.. No go Pressurized the fuel tank primed it and tried starting.. Nothing Pressurized fuel tank sprayed soap water on lines.. No leaks found Tried having someone prime while I cranked. Truck will run off starting fluid through airbox but dies when you stop spraying.

Click to expand… Verify the oring around the bleed in the filter housing isn’t leaking. After you get liquid out of the bleed, close it and continue to pump it until you can’t compress it. I have pumped that little bastard till my arm almost fell off. It just won’t spit the fuel.

What to do if your Duramax wont start?
I doubt that you would ruin the fuel filter primer pump by pumping it real good until the primer pumps hard. (you gotta watch what you say here :rof I would try and re-prime the fuel system again by forcing the fuel through the lines, being real sure that you get all of the air out of the lines and fuel system, and try starting again.

What should I do if my Duramax engine wont start?
With the engine OFF, loosen fuel filter assembly plastic bleed screw a turn or so, and depress the round priming pump on top of FF assembly until fuel squires out of vent. CAREFULLY close plastic vent nut with fingers or nutdriver. Depress pump until firm. Barely finger tight with nutdriver is all you need.
