Why is my Ford KA making an odd noise?
Why is my Ford KA making an odd noise?
If you depress the clutch pedal it starts making a rattling noise from somewhere under the bonnet, and if you apply steering lock at this point it gets approx. twice as loud. I can’t see anything untoward around the engine and all fluid levels are okay (save the brake fluid, which is on the ‘low’ marker). Any ideas?!
Why does my car make a noise when I start the engine?
It should be at medium tension. A loose or worn belt can make a loud squealing or chirping noise. Check the belt tensioner and the size of the belt to make sure the right belt is installed. To isolate the origin of the noise remove the serpentine belt and start the engine to see if the noise is still there.

Why does my Ka make a rattling noise?
No quick fix except gearbox out. I’ve seen a Ka make a rattling noise from the engine bay, where the culprit had been the bonnet stay rattling about where it passes through a grommet on the front panel. The grommete is split and turning it half a turn quietened it down. I think the clutch release bearing sounds quite likely.

What to do when your Ford makes noise?
Begin with checking the oil pressure. If the pressure is low, you can lean more towards a bearing.
