On the 2002 F 150 the sensor is in the latch not on the A or B pillar like on most cars. You can’t just push it like usual.

Took me 20 minute to swap it out. It was dirty inside where it was wired. I unscrewed and took off the left tail light, Disconnected it and put it to one side. Then the switch is in the bottom hole on the side of the truck. Disconnected the switch and tested the new one before removing old one.
