Cummings is a very good engine, sounds more like you are having an issue with the turbo more than anything. That is were I would start, if the turbo is O.K look into getting your injector pump benched, that could also be an issue, if your pickup pump is not delivering enough fuel to your injector pump,over time this will wear your pump out.
