Why is my temperature gauge not working on my 2016 Camaro?

Having the same issue with my 2016 Camaro. After a few short 30 mile trips coolant gauge stops working and fan runs full blast. Reoccurring issue last couple of weeks. Have to disconnect the negative battery cable to reset. Added coolant, which wasn’t needed and also replaced relay. Looking for answers.

Why do my fans go on when I unplug the PCM?

What to do if your coolant gauge is not working?

Using your coolant temperature gauge as an example, the diagnostic procedure involves locating and disconnecting the sending unit. With the ignition on, the gauge should register cold. If you connect the sending unit wire to ground, the gauge should switch to read hot.

Why does my car gauge read cold when I Turn on the ignition?

With the ignition on, the gauge should register cold. If you connect the sending unit wire to ground, the gauge should switch to read hot. If the gauge moves as expected, then you can suspect a bad sending unit. If the gauge doesn’t move when you ground out the sensor wire, then you can suspect a bad gauge.
