Why are the brakes on my Ford E-450 smoking?
Luckily the rotors were OK. The brake fluid was also dark and the system flushed until clean. The rear brakes were never checked. About 1K miles later, after some more downhill braking both front brakes were smoking again, but not as badly. I had even been using engine braking and pumping the brakes to keep them from getting too hot.
What are the brakes on my Ford truck?
Just took the MH into a local shop that works on trucks for a look see at the rear brakes. Hopefully the front ones are still OK since their complete replacement. Additional research on the net has revealed that the pads rusting onto the support pins is a BIG problem with Ford disk brakes.
