Press the RESET button once and a “LEARN L FRONT TIRE” message will appear. This message signals the beginning of the programming sequence. Hold the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Programming Tool over the valve stem of the left front wheel.

What are the sensors on a C5 Corvette?

Low Tire Pressure Sensors – Each C5 Corvette is equipped with four sensors which are used to track air pressures within each wheel. Each sensor has a unique identification code. Remote Function Actuation (RFA) Module – This module stores the transmitted identification codes received from the sensors during the programming process.

Do you need batteries for C5 tire pressure sensor?

The sensors don’t require batteries, and the receivers don’t need to be reprogrammed. (source: VetteWeb, Corvette Fever) C5: There are two different types of C5 pressure sensors. The first sensors were installed on 1997-2000 models. The later sensors are featured on 2001-2004 models. Note that these two types of sensors are NOT interchangeable.

When did the C4 tire pressure sensor come out?

An interesting side note is that the band sensors which are so prevalent today were introduced on the 1987 Corvette. Customer questions tend to focus on reprogramming, compatibility, and changing wheels, so we’ll cover those topics here. C4: The C4 system uses a transmitting wheel sensor held in place by large band clamp.

Where is the tire pressure monitor on a C5?

Do you need tire pressure monitor on C4 Corvette?

Our technical assistance reps get a lot of questions regarding the Tire Pressure Monitor System (TPMS) that is standard on C4, C5 and C6 Corvettes. The TPMS became a requirement for all vehicles under 10,000 lbs. produced after September 2007.

How do you turn on the tire pressure light on a corvette?

If you do not own a Tech 2 or equivalent scan tool, you can simply swipe a J-41760 magnet over the valve stem. Insert the key into the ignition, but do not start the engine. Press both the “lock” and “unlock” buttons on the access control key fob simultaneously. This will switch the vehicle into programming mode, which is what you want.

When does tire pressure drop on a C7 Corvette?

That old rule of thumb remains accurate (of yes, the immutable laws of physcis), that tire pressure typically drops one PSI for each ten degree temperature drop. Exception, if you have filled your tires with 100% nitrogen. GM has designed all C7’s to have 30 PSI when cold for street use.

What happens when a sensor is removed from a corvette?

If the programming process is cancelled before a new sensor is programmed, or if the vehicle’s battery is disconnected, the RFA module/receiver will retain the vehicle’s current sensor identification codes. As soon as the RFA module learns the first new sensor’s identification code, all previously stored codes are erased from the receiver’s memory.

How to use tire pressure monitor in corvette?

Programming Procedure 1 Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. 2 Press the RESET button on the Driver Information Center (DIC) to clear any Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) warning messages. 3 Press and release the OPTIONS button on the DIC to cycle through the display options until the IPC display becomes blank.

Do you need TPMS reset tool on C6 Corvette?

The C6 Corvette requires a TPMS reset tool. Excluding some very early production 2005 models, magnets will not work on the C6’s. The TPMS tool is expensive to purchase, but you may order them through a Chevrolet dealer or the Tire Rack. Instructions for use are similar to the C5:

What is the correct tire pressure for 2016 Stingray corvette?

Just a quick question. What is the correct tire pressure for my 2016 Z51 Coupe. Just took delivery last week and the TPMS showed 33 PSI cold. Just checked my Onstar app after car has not been driven all day and it shows the same 33. The app says recommended front and back is 30 PSI which I also saw on the driver’s door sticker.
