The Expansion cap is found on top of a plastic bottle in the engine bay.

What should the steering fluid be on a Ford Ka?

As far as I know, the power steering fluid should be Pink, yet my Ford Ka (2006) has a clear fluid. Also when turning the wheel to the end, it is making a mechanical grinding noise, but only when the wheel is turned fully. Any ideas?

What happens if you put water into power steering fluid by?

Power steering fluid is a hydraulic fluid, water doesn’t act on the same properties as hydraulic fluids because it can’t be compressed. Plus, power steering fluid also has lubricating properties to properly lubricate small worm gears in the steering rack/box and pump.

How to fill up the water tank in a Ford Ka?

On tune1rat’s picture it is marked with B. Don’t put water there, it will freeze as it is below zero at night. Get to the nearest supermarket or service station and buy a bottle of anti-freeze of the same colour as in the tank B. This picture show under the bonnet of the Ford Ka (hopefully yours looks something like this)! Hope this helps.

Start the engine and let it run until the temperature gauge reaches the normal operating range. With the engine idling, turn the steering wheel all the way to full lock, and then turn it the other way to opposite lock. Do this several times. Locate the power steering reservoir.

What should I do if my power steering is leaking?

You can just pull off all the hoses and let the fluid run out into a basin. If you really want to flush it well, you can actually flush and replace the fluid while the car is running. An easy way to do this is to remove the return hose, which goes from the power-steering rack back to the pump.
