Where is the parking brake on a Ford 3000?

Ford 2000 or 3000 (not sure which late model): There is a parking brake device on the right side of the seat in a bracked over the left brake pedal which is missing some parts. Apparently, you press the left brake (or both brakes if linked) and then pull up on a small know mounted to the side of the transmission wall to lock the brakes for parking.

This tractor in particular is a 1969 Ford 2000. Whenever the foot pedals travel too far or if the pedals don’t travel equally as far, it’s time to adjust your brakes. These Ford tractors use drum brakes which can be adjusted with a jack and a flat head screwdriver. Loading…

What’s the best parking brake for a tractor?

You lift on the T handle and turn it 1/4 turn then step on the brake and the pawl should engage and keep the brake down. For a better handle though, look for one from a 3600 or 4600. Those are longer and mounted slightly different.

How do you lock the brakes on a tractor?

Apparently, you press the left brake (or both brakes if linked) and then pull up on a small know mounted to the side of the transmission wall to lock the brakes for parking. I’m assuming that, under the foot deck, there was a spring or a linkage to a pawl that engages a toothed cog to lock the brakes.

How to adjust steering box on Ford 3000?

My 3000 has about 3/4 of a turn slack in the steering wheel. I have taken the side covers off around the steering box. My problems is I don’t know how to adjust the box. It looks like it has adjustment on both sides. Loosen the locknut on the side plate. Turn the adjusting screw clockwise 1/4 turn. Tighten locknut. Check slack.

How do you adjust the steering on a tractor?

Check slack. Loosten locknut on opposite side. Tighten adjusting screw 1/4 turn clockwise. Tighten locknut. Now drive the tractor a bit making constant left and right turns for a few minutes. Recheck slack motion and readjust as necessary with each new adjustment being smaller. If you get it too tight it will cause the steering to lock up.
