What was the fault on my Ford Focus P2008?
Engine light on, P2008 Intake Manifold Runner Circuit open on bank1, no power, hard to start when hot etc. Fixed it today for $80. IMRC solenoid fault. Paid $82.25 at Brad Garlic Ford, swapped it in 10 mins, and she runs like a pocket rocket again.

I used a code reader and it showed up as P2008 intake manifold runner control circuit open. So basically the inlet manifold runner control is a vacuum operated system that closes flaps inside the air intake to help with air flow at low revs and apparently increase mpg. So on my car mk2.5 1.8 duratec the placement of parts is as follows.

I am new to Fords having just bought a 2nd hand Mk2 2005 Focus, 2.0 petrol auto hatchback with the Duratec engine from a Private seller. I test drove the car with no problems, but soon after getting it home, the orange EML (Engine Management Light) came on indicating a fault with the engine.

If you remove the engine cover you can see, towards the rear right hand side of the back of the engine, is a device called the air shut off assy. This is on a metal plate with 4 vacuum hoses connecting to it. This shuts off the vacuum and resets the flaps

When to open swirl flaps on Focus 2.0?
Above 3000rpm the solenoid should close off the vacuum and the swirl flaps should OPEN. Open is the default position should they lose vacuum and is the position shown in the photo. So to test if this is the problem with your car, look for the blue end of the actuator with the engine off. Then get someone to start the engine.
