What to do if your Ford 3600 starts over?
A simple check is to disconnect the wires and plug them together – on the dash side not transmission. If it turns over then the problem is your neutral safety switch. If that is the case do fix it as the NSS is an important safety feature. I’ m about 90% certain the fuse behind the gauge cluster has nothing to do with the starter circuut.
What should I do if my Ford tractor won’t start?
When the temperature drops well below freezing overnight, do your tractor a favor and slap a magnetic heater on the oil pan about 30 minutes before trying to start it. Grinding the starter until it finally catches is bad. An even worse habit is giving it a shot of starter fluid. I’ve never had a can of starting fluid and never needed any.

If the engine cranks this way, but won’t crank when the start button is pressed, the problem is in the wire to your start pushbutton or the button itself. There are at least 3 different types of Ford start solenoids that look very similar. A 3-post solenoid is correct for most tractors. This solenoid only has one small start terminal.
