What makes a car stop running when the ignition switch is turned off?

What makes a car stop running when the ignition switch is turned off?

A diode only allows the flow of current in one direction. The diode will prevent current from going back to the ignition switch and this will prevent a “run on” condition when the ignition switch is turned off. Use a Radio Shack #1N4001 diode or an equivalent value

Why is my Radio not turning off with ignition?

Both of these devices stopped working when 13 blew. I pulled the tapped blown fuse and put another 20A fuse in. Everything works and the radio turns off with the ignition now. There is nothing else after market in the car. Very strange. Next is to pull the radio and see if I can see those fused wires coming into car behind the console.

Why does my Mercedes Benz radio not shut off?

In my repairs I have only seen it twice, yet the average Joe can perform this test to verify the operation with an ohm meter if she/he is willing to remove the radio, and opening the radio. Finally got to look at this. Fuse 13 for the cigar lighter is blown. However, this fuse has a Red wire integrated into it with atttached inline fuse.

How long does it take for a car radio to turn off?

This feature typically shuts the radio off after about ten minutes or if a door is shut, although that isn’t a universal rule.

How do I turn the radio off with ignition off?

Not open for further replies. sounds obvious but have a read through the instructions, i think i remember seeing something about turning on/off with ignition. mine turns off when i leave the radio on, turn the key off, take the key out and doesnt turn off untill i actually open the door.

Why is my car radio not turning off?

The problem may be in this circuit if this is the way the car is set up. Check your owner’s manual. Your radio should have a means to turn it off while the car is running. Some people, including me, don’t like having the radio on while they drive.

Why does the radio stay on after ignition?

The radio stays on. Is the radio powered directly off the acc/run terminal of the ignition switch, or is there a relay along the way? If it’s directly off the switch as you say, the same circuit that powers the instrument panel, then that’s a strange one you’ve got.
