The Academy is part of Corrective Services NSW and offers operational training to departmental staff and external clients by arrangement. We aim to provide high quality training, development and support services to enhance the skills and effectiveness of staff.

How long is the training to be a correctional officer?
12 weeks
Prison officer training is 12 weeks in duration; 10 weeks of that is the POELT course and weeks 1 and 12 are hosted by the home establishment.

How to get access to Department of Corrections Training?
For county corrections staff or DOC interns or contractors, follow the steps below to gain access to DOC web-based training. Please expect up to two (2) business days to receive your login information. Complete the External Learner Request Form.
What is the core curriculum for corrections officers?
The Correctional Worker Core (CORE) curriculum is a foundational set of courses that introduce new corrections officers (CO), and those who work in prison facilities, to the knowledge, skills, and basic work functions that are at the core of corrections.
How does the NIC support the corrections field?
NIC supports the corrections field with a variety of classroom and online training programs. This section is devoted to providing access to NIC learning events and enabling those who want to attain the success they set for themselves.
When is the deadline for the Alaska Corrections Training Academy?
These trained professionals are prepared to address the numerous challenges facing the supervision of the offender population and their successful reintegration back into the community. Maximum course capacity is 24 students. Registration deadline is 16 December 2019.
