What does p20b9 mean on a reductant heater?

A stored code P20B9 means that the powertrain control module (PCM) has detected no voltage in the control circuit for the on-board reductant heater designated with the letter A. This designation is used where multiple reductant heaters are in use, consult a vehicle specific repair manual to determine which is…

What does the p20b9 code stand for?

P20b9 Meaning. The reductant heater and sender assembly contains pickup tube for reductant pump module, an electric heating element, a reductant temperature sensor and an electrode type level sensor. The heating element is directly above pickup tubes inlet filter.

What does the p20ba code on a heater mean?

P20BA code means that your vehicle’s PCM has detected that the voltage signal from the control circuit of the designated reductant heater “A” is out of the expected range. Note: The definition of code P20BA may be different depending on the vehicle manufacturer. Consult the appropriate repair manual or repair database for the exact code definition

How to bypass bypass code p20b9 until delete?

The reductant heater 1 in my 2011 just took a crap with code P20B9 and I tried to bypass it with a 2.2ohm 1 watt metal film resistor. When commanding the the active test on all three heaters, the test for open circuit on heater one all of a sudden kept showing fail and would not clear. Aparrently when commanding test it burned up the resistor.

Why is my Def reductant heater not working?

What I’m gathering is that this code indicates a problem with the DEF Reductant heater. Note: I do not have any messages stating that my speed will be limited in x number of miles. When I clear the code, it stays off for maybe 2 – 3 start/stop cycles (driven maybe 500 miles or so).

What does the p20b9 Ford code code mean?

The heating element thaws liquid reductant within reductant heater and sender assembly reservoir during cold ambient temperatures. Need more information on how to fix the P20B9 FORD code?

What does the code p20b9 mean on a Duramax Diesel?

For the Chevy Duramax Diesel, the code P20B9 indicates an issue with the DEF reservoir heater. More often than not, it will be the heater itself that must be replaced, and I show you how to do it.

What to do if your Def heater has a p20ba fault?

If these codes are present, diagnose them before attempting to diagnose the P20BA. If the P20BA is the only active fault code present, and there are no updates/TSBs for your particular vehicle, then the next step is to locate the DEF Supply Line Heater, which is close to the DEF Supply Pump on the DEF tank.
