A torque converter is a hydraulic circuit that transfers engine power to the transmission through hydraulic pressure. If it is damaged, there won’t be enough pressure to operate the valve body and change/engage gears. A bad torque converter can also cause the engine to stall or slip out of the overdrive gear.

Other than that one issue, our Tracker has provided flawless reliability for 50K miles with just annual synthetic oil changes and lube. We wanted inexpensive, all-weather transport for commuting, and have not been disappointed.
What’s the axle ratio on a Chevy tracker?
It states that ratios are 4.875 manual and 5.125 automatic. But in the Grand Vitara tech specs (I guess all Grand Vitara’s are V6’s) it states 4.30 manual and 4.875 automatic. Not sure if I’m just stupid, confused or tired (its 12 minutes past midnight, and I’ve been reading this site for hours).
