What causes blue smoke at start-up after sitting overnight?
The 156 miles is whats causing it. Engine is worn out big time. Blue smoke on start up usually means valve seals or worn valve guides. At that mileage finding the real issue like possibly seals, you fix that, a few months later the rings could show wear and that would cause it to smoke again…. Just kidding about the “worn out big time”……
What causes white smoke from exhaust on startup?

Why does my EcoBoost escape start up smoke?
First, judging by this thread since my 1.6 Ecoboost Escape has 223,000 miles on it, the engine must be about ready to explode the next time I start it, or fall out of the car. Neither of which is actually accurate. This issue being blamed on mileage only is a huge generalization.

What kind of lawn tractor smokes at startup?
My 10 year old Briggs & Stratton powered Craftsman lawn tractor smokes quite a bit at startup. After running for 20-30 seconds the smoke stops. I had this same issue last year and was told I needed a new head gasket which I did have replaced.

Why does my old snowblower smoke at startup?
My old snowblower smokes pretty good on startup when it’s below freezing out (not when it’s warmer, strangely)… In that case it’s worn valve guides, but it doesn’t impact running in any real way. That’s a repairable problem, but not worth the effort on a machine that old.
