Feel on them after you have been cranking for a while, and make sure they are not warm. If they are warm, there is a bad connection there which needs to be cleaned.
Why is my car making a clicking noise when starting?
Hearing clicking when you’re trying to start your car can be upsetting, but it’s less so if you understand what is causing the noise. The most common reason for that rapid clicking noise when your car fails to start is a dead battery.
Why does my GM car say no start no crank?
How to diagnose a no start no click on GM vehicle. If you have a late model GM vehicle and turn the key only to hear nothing, you’ll most likely think you have a dead battery—and you may. But a no start, no crank, no click condition can be far more involved than that.
It sounds like power is getting to the starter because I can hear a loud click when I turn the key. I’ve researched the topic thoroughly on this site but no one has seemed to have the same problem. In all the other cases there is click coming from the starter. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks
These trucks are notorious for ignition switches!! If it’s a bad starter though, you can turn and hold the key in the “start” position, while someone gives the starter a “whack” with a blunt object! It may start, if it does start, you will know that the starter is kapoot!

Hope this helps!!! Nope it’s not a dead battery the starter sounds like it wants to go but all it does is click. it almost sounds like what my old s10 did when the starter is over heated. what does a starter go for?
How much does it cost to get a new alternator in a car?
A brand-new alternator will set you back approximately $250-$1,000, though you can purchase a remanufactured unit for between $150-$500. However, if you get it professionally installed by a mechanic, you’ll also have to pay for labor.
What should I do if my starter is clicking?
Check the battery terminals and cables for looseness and corrosion. If you just charged the battery or just drove the car, remove the battery surface charge by turning the headlights on high beam for a minute. Turn them off, wait for two minutes and follow the next steps.
Why is my starter clicking at the solenoid?
Often, you’ll hear this interference manifest itself as a click, or a series of fast clicks, at the starter solenoid or relay. Most car owners can diagnose the problem using a simple series of tests with a digital multimeter (DMM). And these tests only take a few minutes.
What should the voltage be on my starter?
Connect your DMM leads across the battery terminals: You should get between 12.4 and 12.6 volts across the battery terminals with accessories turned off and ambient battery temperature between 60 and 100 F (15 and 37.7 C). If you get a reading below 12.4 volts, your battery is not fully charged.
