What activities do the air cadets do?
What sort of activities do the air cadets do? We get to do a huge variety of activities such as flying, gliding, target shooting, adventure training, sports, camps, drill, academic studies and lots of other things.
At what age can you join the Cadets?
The cadet experience is open to everyone, so whatever your nationality, background or ability, whether you’re male or female, if you’re between 13 (or 12 if in Year 8) and 17 years old you can join us.
What is the age limit for Army Cadets?
The Army Cadets can offer a lot of exciting opportunities to young people from 12 and 17 years old, but we know that parents and carers will have questions about the Army cadets, what it does and the kind of activities our cadets take part in.
How old are cadets?
Youth members must be at least 12 years old and not yet 19 years old. Special school squadrons accept cadets under the age of 12 as long as they are in the sixth grade.
Do Air cadets fly planes?
Yes, all cadets will have the opportunity to fly at one of the Air Experience Flights provided by the Volunteer Gliding Squadrons located around the country. Additionally, cadets can apply for scholarships up to Private Pilots Licence level!
What do cadets do in the intermediate sail course?
Intermediate Sail The Intermediate Sail Course provides cadets an opportunity to develop more advanced sailing and basic power boating skills. Activities include first aid, sailing and small craft operator training.
What do you do when you become an air cadet?
Air Cadet Pilot Scheme – The pinnacle of flying as a cadet, for advanced handling. Complete this successfully and you’ll be awarded your cadet pilot wings. And if you do exceptionally well you could be recommended for further training which will help towards your Private Pilot’s Licence!
How old do you have to be to go to sea cadet training?
Activities include rope work, small craft operation (whaler) training, a day sail on a Sea Cadet Training Vessel (SCTV), and naval communication. Cadets applying for this course should be 13–14 years of age, and have successfully completed Phase Two.
What are the requirements for the advanced sail course?
The Advanced Sail Course provides cadets an opportunity to develop advanced sail and racing skills. Cadets applying for this course should have obtained CANSail Level 5, CANSail Spinnaker Level 1 and CANSail Trapeze Level 1 Qualifications, have successfully completed the Intermediate Sail Course, and have successfully completed Phase Four.
