My 2014 Escape rear… My 2014 Escape rear backup camera is intermittently posting a message that camera is unavailable when I am backing up slowly. Sometimes it operates normal but more times it is not. Mechanic’s Assistant:Is this an aftermarket camera, or did it come with the vehicle?

Both “Early” and “Late” apparently use the same camera. IF you have and replace the IPBM, THEN programming of that replaced module is required. IF you have it the IPBM is located behind the left cargo-area trim panel above the wheel well.

The problem is an internal fault in the camera itself. We have had numerous issues with these cameras since the day Ford started using them. From blue screen, the upside down images on the display, grid lines not showing up, fuzzy images and posting a message that camera is unavailable.

I have the same intermittent problem on my 2014 Escape b/u camera. Thanks for the wire routing input, but maybe the problem isn’t in the video circuit, but in a switch or sensor which tells the camera circuit that the transmission is in reverse.

Was told today by Ford Service that their testing indicates the camera has died, they want $600 to replace the camera (which I REALLY do not want to spend).

The camera turns on for a few seconds then screen goes blank. All connections look to be intact. Body shop said to have Ford take a look at it, but wanted to see if anyone else had similar issues?
