Is the lights on on my service 4WD?
As I drove home, the lights would go on and off intermittently. If the lights were on, I would not have the Service 4WD message, but when they go out, then I have the message. Currently, the lights have remained out and a Service 4WD message remains. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
When does the service 4WD message come up?
Does the “SERVICE 4WD” message come up as soon as you start the truck, or does it only activate after you try to select a mode other than 2 Hi?

Hey guys so on my 05 lly the 4×4 is acting up. For awhile it would ocassionally give me the Service 4wd message and the lights on the switch would go out. Then it would come back.

The codes and message may also be set during normal driving conditions in Auto 4WD, 4HI or 4LO. The trouble codes often set intermittently set during extreme cold or warm weather, or when the battery has a low charge. GM has issued a software update to correct the problem. DO NOT replace the Transmission case control module TCCM.

When to switch from 4WD Hi to 4WD Low?
If the driving conditions allow you to drive faster without risking damage to your 4×4 and you can safely go over 15 mpg, you can then confidently switch back to 4-High without any risk. Always ensure you stop first before engaging 4-Lo and slow down before reverting back to 4-Hi.

How to change 4 wheel drive from 2WD to 2WD?
Turn the transfer case shift control switch (TCSCS) to the 2WD HI position for at least 5 seconds. 6. Turn the TCSCS clockwise past the 4WD LO position to the neutral request position and hold for at least 30 seconds. 7. An audible noise from the transfer case encoder motor should occur indicating asuccessful learn procedure.

If you don’t, certain vehicles will remain in 4wd regardless of the switch position and you’ll get the Service 4WD message in the info cluster until the code is cleared by the dealer. You can use and switch to any drive mode while underway, but just don’t forget to turn it back to 2wd before turning off the ingnition.

The solid lights on the 4WD buttons are telling you where the transfer case encoder motor thinks it is, and blinks on the mode that it is trying to go to after you push the button. If it fails to move to the new position, it goes back to a solid light on the original position and illuminates the “SERVICE 4WD” light.
Why are there no lights on my 4WD suburban?
Last week the message does not go away after restarting the car so I pull out the selector switch and resolder the joints then plug it back in to find that the “Service 4WD” message is gone but there are no lights at all. I press the buttons but nothing happens. I’m in 2WD.
