As long as you’re properly trained and pay careful attention to what you’re doing, it isn’t hard to operate an excavator. However, like anything else, it takes practice to do a good job.
Why does my Komatsu excavator swing brake not release?
Make sure your swing brake solenoid is not faulty restricting pilot pressure to release the brake as there is an electrical swing lock switch. Check your swing lock circuit. when you try to swing does the engine lug like it is trying to pull against the brake or is there just nothing?
Is there a free swing function on a Komatsu?
A free swing function wasn’t put on Komatsu machines at the factory level at least through the Dash 7 series that I know of so if there is one on a newer machine I would like to know that. The free swing function drops the cross over relief set pressures when the operator lets the handle go to neutral position.

There are no switches on the L.H. console. There are two switches on the rear of the R.H. console…One is ‘swing lock/release’ , and the other is ‘auto decel/release’. Neither works. Could these be the other solenoids?
Is the PC 120-3 excavator swing still working?
Komatsu pc 120-3 excavator swing… I’m working for a guy who bought an old worn out PC120, to do 2 projects. It’s really tired& worn, but it’s stayed together pretty well. Last year, the swing quit working, and i installed a new solenoid (from China) on the valve block under the machine. It got well.
