Why is the dipstick yellow on my Chevy Equinox?
There is one fastener to get off on this particular transmission to get the dipstick to come out. On this vehicle the dipstick was yellow. This is a Chevy equinox 2008 LS trim with 40k miles. Hopefully the transmission is losing material making it slip between 3rd and 4th gear. If so then the engineers did a horrible job.

Can you put too much oil in a Chevy Equinox?
For engine oil crankcase capacity, see Capacities and Specifications on page 5-107. Notice: Do not add too much oil. If the engine has so much oil that the oil level gets above the cross-hatched area that shows the proper operating range, the engine could be damaged. Do not add anything to the oil.
How do you check the fluid level on a Chevy Equinox?
You have an AF33-5 transmission. The fluid is checked by removing one bolt on the front, #1 in the picture and using the indicator #2. This is located on the front of the transmission near the center close tot he radiator. Remove the fluid level indicator located behind the front transaxle mount.
