Can you replace the blend door on a Ford F-150?

This article applies to the Ford F-150 (2004-2014). The blend door mixes the hot air with the cold air in the cabin of your Ford truck. If the door is broken, sometimes only hot air will blow through the vents, or similarly, just cold air. Here’s how to replace the blend door yourself for under $200 and less than two hours of work.

Why did my F-150 blend door actuator go out?

If you switch it towards heat a little bit, and the noise stops, your F-150 blend door actuator has gone out. A common issue in these trucks is the failure of the potentiometer that senses when the actuator has turned fully.

How do you replace rear door actuator on F-150?

The rear screw requires going through the glove box. To get to the rear screw, you lower the glove box, pinch the sides, and then lower it further. That keeps it nice and out of the way. Then, you can reach up through the glove box to the actuator area. You’ll need to use an 8mm box wrench.

Can a lower blend door actuator be replaced?

Pretty much what BigKevy said i cut off the driver side eyelet and used a pry bar to get enough clearance. It was a hacky pain to do but it can be done. Good luck. After the painful process of replacing this actuator, I’m not much further ahead.
