Use a socket wrench to loosen the nut that is holding the clamp to the negative part of the battery (in my ’04 Focus, the negative side is on the right when you are facing the battery from the front side of the car). Once the clamp is loosened, yank the clamp upward until it disconnects (this might take a little elbow grease).

Why does my headlight only work on low beam?

Headlight connector on the driver’s side might have a connection issue from what you’ve mentioned, looking at that & checking for power there would be a good step. The left and right low beams are wired in parallel.
How are the low and high beams wired?
The left and right low beams are wired in parallel. The high beams are also wired in parallel. So, if one side is working and the bulbs are good (you have already confirmed that), then most likely the connector is bad on the driver’s side.
