Do I need to replace refrigerant lines?

As you might expect, copper refrigerant lines need to be changed out whenever you are replacing an air conditioning or installing a new one. However, it is also important to note that copper refrigerant lines are also recommended to be changed out when upgrading your air conditioning system.

Can a line set be replaced because of a refrigerant leak?

It’s within the equipment manufacturer’s size specifications for line sets. The vertical distance of the line set doesn’t exceed the manufacturer’s limit. The line set runs though places that are difficult to access, such as through walls or even under slab. You’re not replacing your HVAC system because of a refrigerant leak.

Do you have to replace the condenser in your AC system?

Once they are bolted on and torqued to specifications you can move on to the next step. Inasmuch as you have opened the system to the atmosphere to replace the condenser, air containing moisture has been introduced. Therefore, the receiver/drier on your system MUST be replaced.

How do you clean out a HVAC line set?

That’s a must whether you’re reusing the existing line set or getting a new one. The only way to properly clean out the line set is to perform a triple evacuation procedure. Basically, an HVAC pro removes contaminants from the line set three times using a vacuum pump.

Is it OK to insulate liquid line in air conditioner?

You can insulate the “liquid line” (the smaller one from the unit to the evaporator) as it carries the refrigerant that has been cooled and compressed and ready to absorb more heat. It might improve efficiency in extreme heat situations, but more than likely it wouldn’t be drastically noticeable.

Do you have to flush lineset when replacing AC?

If a new lineset is not an option for whatever reason, a flush can also be done. This is a chemical used to flush out the R-22 that ran through the lineset. It is effective, however, it’s not likely that 100% of the oil will be flushed out. Therefore, we recommend a new, clean lineset when possible.
