Recently my 2014 E350 gave me a message, on the instrument cluster, to replace the battery in my key. OK, looked up the type of battery, bought one, inserted it, all done.

Hi All, Just started getting the “Auxiliary Battery Malfunction” on my 2014 E350. Interestingly enough, Distronic Plus Inoperable message and Highbeam Assist Inoperable messages started too, along with parktronic not working – maybe related?

This morning however the message was “Key not detected” so I had to start the car using the actual key. Then when I restarted the car after driving about an hour it detected the key and I could start the car with the push button, but the message to replace the battery appeared again.

Why does my Mercedes S550 have a red battery symbol?
I drive an S550 and this is the luxury of luxuries. However, do some recon on your own when it comes to the RED battery symbol and the ABS/ESP warning on the dash. This happened in my S550…I changed brake switch, main engine battery, reset the computer…My last resort was to change the auxiliary battery in the TRUNK.
