Hi mowing with a john deere 6210 and pto cut out i read the diff lock and pto solenoids would swap so did this it was actually a taller solenoid and the nut would not go on just to try i wired in on and hey pressto it worked !
How does the PTO work on a John Deere lawn mower?
The PTO works off of a 12-volt system. The electric clutch is operated by a switch located on the dashboard of the lawn mower. When the lawn mower is running and the switch on the dashboard is engaged to the “on” position, the blades will start to turn.

Check your seat sensor (the wire that goes to the seat and the sensor under it) and the your PTO switch (the lift and twist one) They are known to go and cause that problem as well as the RPM sensor. At least on the 6400 anyway, I doubt the 6410 is much different in that department.
Why is my Pto not working on my jd2210?
My PTO won’t engage on my JD2210. I’ve measured voltages to the solenoid and they are there so there’s no problems with safety interlocks etc. The solenoid shows about 5 ohms so its not a dead short and I can hear a slight click when I turn it on. I’ve got the service manual but it doesn’t say much about removing it.

Is the middle PTO on my tractor working?
Your tractor has two independent PTO’s (hydraulic actuated clutch packs), one for the middle and one for the rear. Is the middle PTO working? You could try swapping solenoids. From your picture, it appears to me that your coil is ‘sandwiched’ in position and will not turn.
