All carbs vent the bowls under the air cleaner but I think the edelbrock seems to allow more vapor trapped in the carb to air cleaner area causing the flooded like condition. I have yet to put the phenolic spacer on , but I did run it before and it did help keep the Holley a lot cooler to touch.
