What is the shift indicator on a Trans Am?

The console-mounted shift indicator (PRNDSL or PRND21) is illuminated by a single gray wire/socket/ground clip, shown below. There’s no needle in this indicator, but it is illuminated nonetheless. Console compartment lamps weren’t available on 2nd Generation Trans Ams, so manual transmission consoles have no lights in them anywhere.

Where is the lamp on a Trans Am harness?

In the photo, courtesy lamps are shown on the left and right ends of the harness. The plug that connects to the main harness is in the middle. The short orange wire right of center is for a power deck lid release, and the lamp with its metal bracket and black push button is obviously for the glove compartment.
