There are 2 pneumatic cylinders that hold the rear hatch door in the open (lifted) position. Recently, the bolt that secures one end of it to the vehicle broke and the door fell and hit me on the shoulders ( it is quite heavy).

Rear hatch latch, subject of a previous safety recall is failing. When the open button is pushed, the latch opens part way and remains like that. Dealer wants hundreds of dollars to repair it. I have not authorized that repair since I believe as a previously defective and recalled part, it should be repaired at no cost to me.

However, you can use the FOB to activate the hatch but when it gets near the top of jerks and then comes back down. The door is also offset now and slams against the left side of the rear of the vehicle.
