Why is my lift gate not connecting properly?
The first time I connected a strut, I connected the strut to the lift gate (door), and I simply couldn’t get the other bolt to thread in properly onto the frame of the van (because the angle was slightly off and the threads wouldn’t catch).

Can you lift the lift gate on a Dodge Grand Caravan?
This helped immensely. You can’t simply have the gate lifted to its natural position (at least on the 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan)…you should lift it even an inch or two higher than it naturally wants to go. I didn’t want to remove both struts and then forget which way the new ones would connect, so I removed one strut, and then replaced it.
