If I start it when cold or not up to operating temp it fires right away. I’m just thinking that the coolant is leaking back from the hot head to the coolant temp sensor, heat soaking it and causing it to run a rich start up. I’ve checked the sensor and all the resistances seem to be within spec.

My theory as to why it won’t start is because there’s water in the cylinders (from the blown head gasket) and as we know, a gasoline engine doesn’t run or start well on H20. Wish they did though. A bad water pump shouldn’t effect your timing.

This sounds like the ignition control module. When they start to go bad the engine heat will affect them as to cause a no start condition when it is heated up. You could take it out and bring it to an auto parts store to have it tested. But I’m not sure how it would test because it would be cold.
