What does surge feel like in Chrysler Town and Country?

Surge at steady speed feels like a skip reminds me of loss of traction. At light acceleration, there is some feeling of engine missing/trans surging. Dealer said it was not detected but installed updated software. Still happens especially when engine is cold. Replacing the EGR fixed the surging issue I have had for a couple of years.

What’s the problem with my Chrysler Town and Country?

For several months, I experienced intermittent engine surging; particularly at 50-60 mph. Engine rpm would suddenly fluctuate causing the car to slightly jerk. Chrysler will have a hard time justifying their ignorance should something happen to someone because of this issue. Their denial has been going on for years!

Brought it back to the dealer 2 times. The 1st time they sealed a transmission leak and topped it off. 2nd time they reprogrammed the computer. Dealer refused to repair the problem a 3rd time after I reported it was still shuddering. Had to take them to court.

What is the problem with the idle air control valve?

The problem may involve an annoying change (up/down) of engine speed while cruising at a steady pace, a low drop (or even cut-out) at idle or when approaching a stop, a wild high engine speed of several thousand rpm followed by a drop to near zero, etc. • Dirty/sticking IAC (idle air control valve) (P0505)

Can a cracked IAC valve cause an engine surge?

If the hose is cracked or damaged, the engine will react as though the IAC valve is faulty. Also note that Toyota and Lexus vehicles may feature a non-motorized, magnetic IAC valve, requiring periodic cleaning of the IAC air inlet. In order to isolate the issue, clear any codes, then disconnect the IAC and start the engine.

What does it feel like when your throttle freezes up?

It feels like my throttle is freezing up,….NOT litterally ofcourse,…..the foot-pedal pumping action works throughout this “freezeup” session. Then it takes about 30 seconds to a minute too respond (while slowing you down 10-20miles per hour) and then finally speedup again.
