Why does my transmission feel loose?
Why does my transmission feel loose?
Generally, most all gear shifters will become loose due to aggressive gear changing from the gear shifter. Aggressive gear changing can cause damage to the bushing on the bottom of the gear shifter lever. Once the bushing is damaged, it will cause slack in the gear shifter.
Why did my BMW lose power on the freeway?
However, on the way back at 3:00 a.m., after about two hours of driving, we had exactly the same problem. The car suddenly lost power, stuttered/lurched for a minute or two, then ultimately stalled. Once again, the fuel gauge showed about 1/8th of a tank of gas (the “low gas” light had not yet come on).
Why is my transmission not working on my Ford F-Series?
Once in awhile I can get it to work if I drive it for 15 or twenty minutes in drive , also the gas gauge won’t work on the front tank when this happens. Can anyone help with an answer. After a twenty minute highway drive, when slowing for off ramp the transmission makes a grinding sound and just before stopping it clunks down into first gear.
Can a standard transmission lose all its fluid?
A standard (“manual”) transmission uses fluid too, but leaks aren’t a common issue; a standard transmission could lose all its fluid and never slip at all, though eventually, it would lock up while driving down the road.
Why is my automatic transmission slipping while driving?
Why Is My Automatic Transmission Slipping? If you have an automatic transmission and it “slips” while you are driving it—that is, the car engine revs without the power going to the wheels—the most common cause (though not the only possible cause) is low transmission fluid.

What causes a transmission to have poor shift quality?
Dirty fluid can cause all kinds of shifting issues because it clogs up small passageways going to the shift solenoids. If the fluid level is low, there’s not enough fluid to fill all these passages, and the transmission lacks pressure internally. This will lead to poor shift quality or no shift at all.
