The Fountain Tarot is a modern tarot deck created by Jonathan Saiz (painter), Jason Gruhl (author), and Andi Todaro (designer). It’s one of my favorite modern decks (maybe my favorite tarot deck after U.S. Games’s centennial Rider-Waite-Smith). It’s light and airy with beautiful oil paintings by Saiz.

I didn’t personally care for the look of the traditional Rider-Waite deck or other decks that were similarly designed. The Fountain Tarot is beautifully breathtaking with its softer color palette, clean and modern imagery, silver-foiled edges, and kaleidoscopic-style card backs.

How does the back of a tarot deck look?
The tarot back design is conventional in style. The colors and shapes are symmetrical and well balanced, complimenting the rest of the deck perfectly. This isn’t always the case with a lot of decks out there. In fact, I have a couple decks I find myself not wanting to use, simply because I have an aversion to the back of the cards.
