What is SATR and Sfra?
Special Air Traffic Rules (SATR) and Special Flight Rules Area (SFRA) Background. The Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) prescribes special air traffic rules for aircraft operating within the boundaries of certain designated airspace. These areas are listed in 14 CFR Part 93 and can be found throughout the NAS.
What is a Roz?
A ROZ is a volume of airspace in defined dimensions developed for a specific operational mission or requirement. It restricts some or all airspace users from this area until the end of the mission (see Figure 3-1).
What is Adiz aviation?
Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) means an area of airspace over land or water, in which the ready identification, location, and control of all aircraft (except Department of Defense and law enforcement aircraft) is required in the interest of national security.
What is an air control order?
The airspace control order (ACO) is an order that provides the details of the approved requests for coordination measures such as airspace coordinating measures (ACMs), air defense measures, and fire support coordination measures (FSCMs).
What is SFRA airspace?
In United States aviation, a special flight rules area (SFRA) is a region in which the normal regulations of flight do not apply in whole or in part, especially regulations concerning airspace classification, altitude, course, and speed restrictions, and the like.
How do you fly in SFRA?
Aircraft flying within the SFRA must have an altitude-encoding transponder and it must be operating. FAA air traffic control must assign a four-digit number that identifies the aircraft by call sign or registration number when it gives a pilot clearance to fly in the SFRA.
What is airspace deconfliction?
Airspace deconfliction is a term used to describe the process of reducing the risk of a near mid air collision or TFR intrusion by sharing information regarding flight activity with DoD military units, general aviation and other agency aviation programs.
Is ADIZ legal?
International law does not prohibit a nation from establishing an ADIZ in international airspace adjacent to its national airspace. The legal basis for establishing an ADIZ in times of peace is that states have a right to establish reasonable conditions of entry into their land territory and national airspace.
Can you cross ADIZ?
Many aircraft inbound to the U.S. will cross an ADIZ . According to FAR Part 99, if penetrating an ADIZ , all aircraft of U.S. or foreign registry must file, activate, and close a flight plan with the appropriate aeronautical facility.
What is the ATO cycle?
The air tasking order (ATO) articulates the tasking for joint air operations for a specific execution timeframe, normally 24 hours. The joint air tasking cycle is synchronized with the JFC’s battle rhythm. The JAOC normally establishes a 72- to 96-hour ATO planning cycle.
How many air operations centers are there?
There are five divisions in the AOC. These separate, but distinct, organizations fuse information that eventually becomes the Air Tasking Order.
