Are KYB shocks good for lowering springs?
Are KYB shocks good for lowering springs?
They work fine, I’ve used them on hundreds of Zcars. They actually seem slightly too stiff when used with stock springs but seem just about perfect for the stiffer “lowering” springs.
What kind of shocks do I need with lowering springs?
The following shocks are the only shocks we recommend for use with lowered suspensions:
- Bilstein B8 Sport.
- Koni Sport Adjustable (Yellow)
- Koni STR. T (Orange)
- KYB AGX Adjustable.
How long do KYB Excel G last?
They instantly improve the comfort of your ride, and they provide outstanding options for off-roading shocks if that’s what you’re into. The only dig on KYB shocks is that they only last 7-9 years on average. While this is the typical lifespan for shocks, higher-end brands can last even longer.
Do I need to change my shocks if I lower my car?
It is generally recommended that you change the shocks/struts when you use lowering springs. Lowering springs are shorter than stock springs so the shocks and struts wind up in a new normal position that is more like the middle of their travel when used with stock springs.
Do I need shorter shocks for lowering springs?
Yes, if you install lowering springs then you need new shocks.
Are Lowering springs good?
Because lowering means getting stiffer springs, there is less weight transfer when you hit the gas or brake hard. This means you’ll enjoy faster acceleration and quicker stops. Lowered vehicles are more aerodynamic. There’s less air hitting the wheels and tires (that are not streamlined shapes).
Are Lowering springs the same as shocks?
Lowering springs are shorter in length (most of the time) compared to factory springs, your shocks will be riding lower in their travel than they were designed to be at while sitting at normal ride height.
Do lowered shocks lower your car?
Shocks can lower a car but it’s not a recommended way of doing it. I went from Kings with stock shocks to the same with lowered shocks and noticed no difference in ride height. It sounds like Pedders want to sell their ultra-expensive shortened shocks, which are probably designed to compliment super-low springs.
Do lowering springs ruin shocks?
Long answer short, “YES”. Your OEM shocks will wear out quicker than normal if you install lowering springs. OEM shocks were not designed to sit lower with smaller springs.
Is lowering a car worth it?
Handling can be improved by lowering the car’s center of gravity, which tends to reduce body roll. Lowering the vehicle usually reduces aerodynamic drag, which increases fuel economy, and sometimes reduces high speed lift, this making the vehicle safer. A lower vehicle may pose less of a rollover risk.
Is the KYB Excel G the right car?
They are manufactured on KYB’s original equipment assembly lines with the same quality components as OEM. So if you want your vehicle to perform the way it was designed to, the Excel-G is the right choice.
What are shocks and struts on KYB Excel G?
KYB Excel-G Shocks & Struts are designed for the most important performance purpose: Restoring the vehicle’s original capabilities.
What kind of classification does the KYB Excel G have?
That has earned Excel-G the classification: OEA (Original Equipment for the Aftermarket). The KYB Excel-G is a nitrogen gas-charged, twin-tube design that includes every quality component that our global OEM products include and it is the preferred choice by professional technicians.
What kind of tubing does KYB Excel G use?
Fluid must be managed through the valves for a shock to keep a vehicle operating as designed. The KYB Excel-G uses seamless, extruded steel tubing in the inner cylinders, and includes a Teflon band around the piston for a positive seal.
