What is a 60 trim turbo?

What is a 60 trim turbo?

Trims are nothing more than a measuring stick to compare t04E series turbos. The number means nothing more than it flows more air than a lower number. A 60 flows more than a 57, 57 more than 54, ect. A 57 trim is about ideal for the stock CT upgrades that are so popular.

What does T4 turbo mean?

Turbos are referred to by T numbers that are “class type”. On the other hand, the T4 turbo has a larger turbine on the exhaust side and larger turbine fins on the intake compressor side. This means that T4 can generate more air at full boost to achieve more horsepower than T3.

What is trim size turbo?

Trim. “Trim” is another commonly thrown-around term when discussing turbo sizing. Simply put, it’s an expression of the relationship between the inducer and exducer diameters of turbine or (more commonly) compressor wheels, and is useful for judging how much air either one can move.

How big is a 50 trim turbo?

When talking trims, you have to be careful, there can be more than one wheel that is a 50 trim, one that measures 4″ at the inducer, and 5.65″ at the exducer will be a 50 trim. Usually though, the higher the trim number in a family of compressor wheels, the higher the flow capacity.

What does a T4 turbo fit?

These turbochargers are commonly used on smaller engines, between 2.0 and 3.5 liters; you could use it on something larger, but at high RPM, the engine will already be flowing more air than this size of turbo is capable of, so you wouldn’t see much benefit.

What’s the difference between T4 and T6 turbo?

The T3/T4/T6 refers to the tubro turbine housing size and increase in diameter and width as the number goes up. So a T4 turbine will be larger than a T3 turbine housing, but smaller than a T6 housing.

How much horsepower does a T4 turbo add?

The high-boost turbo is designed to spool fairly quickly and can support up to 500 horsepower.

What is a 50 trim turbo?

Trim tells us flow characteristics of a wheel, NOT size. In the DSM world, we mainly use ‘trim’ as a slang for NAME… a 50 trim can be a million different turbos, but a 50 trim from a DSM vendor is going to be the same compressor wheel. Note that a 56 trim is a MUCH larger turbo (wheel) than a 57 trim.
