As a prescription-only medicine, Duraphat can only be provided to patients by suitably qualified professionals. The prescription can be dispensed at a pharmacy or dental practice, but the product can’t be bought over the counter by patients.
How do you use Colgate Duraphat mouthwash?
Adults and children aged 8 years and over rinse with 10 ml thoroughly for 1 minute and spit out. Avoid rinsing with water afterwards to maximise the effect of the fluoride. – For children over 12 and adults, rinse twice a day. Ideally use at a different time from tooth brushing.
How often can you apply Duraphat?
For caries prevention, the application is usually repeated every 6 months but more frequent applications (every 3 months) may be made. For hypersensitivity 2 or 3 applications should be made within a few days. The patient should not brush the teeth or chew food for 4 hours after treatment.
