Nanyang Girls’ High School/Founded
Nanyang Girls’ High School (NYGH) was founded in 1917. It is a premier independent and Special Assistance Plan (SAP) school with an intake of over 1500 girls ranging from Sec 1 to Sec 4.
Who designed NYGH?
In 1968, the diamond was superimposed over a bright-yellow ring printed with the words “Nanyang Girls’ High”. Below the yellow ring is a yellow banner bearing the school’s motto in Chinese. The new design was conceptualised by two teachers, Bao Mei Ju and Li Yu Lin.

As a SAP school, all students admitted to NYGH must offer Higher Chinese Language as Mother Tongue Language.
How old is Nanyang Primary School?
Nanyang Primary School (NYPS) was established in 1917 as the primary section of The Singapore Nanyang Girls’ School. NYPS was separated from the secondary section in 1978 due to increasing pupil enrolment and has functioned as a single-session school since 2004.
